Rain barrel venture gains steam (Columbus)
To Jonathan Meier, raindrops hitting the window pane might sound like pennies adding up in the bank, but the gentle pitter-patter also is the music of his life’s work – to improve the environment while simultaneously helping neighbors in need.
Meier’s involvement with urban community gardening five years ago blossomed into a business venture in 2007 that has grown organically through word-of-mouth advertising to a point where his Rain Brothers LLC is set in 2010 to again overwhelm its revenue totals of the previous two years.
The company, which Meier co-owns with partners Gordy Smith and his father, Michael Meier, makes and installs rainwater catchment systems from its quirky Franklinton site.
