Renewable Funding take solar funding program national (San Francisco)
Renewable Funding, which grew out of Berkeley’s groundbreaking program to help residents pay for solar, has taken the idea nationwide.
The Oakland company is run by former Berkeley staffer Cisco DeVries, who came up with the novel concept for financing renewable energy.
“There’s a lot of interest in (the program) at the national level right now,” said DeVries, adding that U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steve Chu was asked about it at a January Senate Hearing. “People are really excited about its capacity to be really transformative.”
