Washington wind farm gets $28.6M in stimulus funds (Seattle)
Puget Sound Energy’s Wild Horse wind and solar facility in Kittitas County has received $28.6 million in federal stimulus funding, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray’s office reports.
The U.S. Department of Energy awarded the funds to pay for expansion of the facility, located 15 miles east of Ellensburg in Central Washington. The facility opened in 2006 with 127 wind turbines and was expanded two years later when 22 more turbines were added.
The 2009 expansion cost $100 million and the stimulus funds will pay for part of that expansion project, Murray’s office said.
