YRC Worldwide gives customers a carbon calculator (Kansas City)
YRC Worldwide Inc. is launching a tool that allows customers to estimate how much their use of YRC is reducing their carbon footprints.
The Green Balance Calculator, which YRC announced Friday, evaluates eight transportation factors, such as fuel, electricity, miles by air or rail, hotel nights and reimbursement to employees for rental cars or mileage. It uses those numbers to determine how much pollution the customer would generate by sending its freight through other methods.
The company is a less-than-truckload operator, meaning it combines smaller orders from multiple customers into single shipments.
