$20M LED manfacturing plant planned in Texas (Austin)

Two semiconductor light developers plan to construct a $20 million, 100-person manufacturing plant in Central Texas, according to a spokes woman today.

Hewitt, Texas-based LED Illumination Direct and Cimi Valley, Calif.-based Seesmart LED announced Monday they are considering Moody, Texas, between Temple and Waco, for an LED light manufacturing plant. An official today also said the team is looking at Austin sites and wants to begin construction as soon as possible.

"We've been approached by many investors and political leaders to locate our manufacturing in the U.S. and abroad; however, one sight we're strongly considering is an industrial park near the world's largest army base, Fort Hood," LED Illumination Direct CEO Greg Klepper said.
