Army Corps awards $1.26M for solar installations (Sacramento)

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District has awarded a $1.26 million federal stimulus contract to install solar electricity systems at nine park and dam operations in California.

The systems are expected to provide 41 percent of each office’s electricity needs on average, the Corps said in a press release, and will cut carbon emissions by 156,000 pounds annually.

The boundaries of the Sacramento District touch nine Western states, from the Central Valley in California east to the Rocky Mountains.
