Demand grows for battery and fuel-cell tech (Albany)
The Capital Region is in the race for a better energy source.
Eco-friendly innovations—wind and solar power, improved hybrid cars, electric cars and energy-saving laptops, to name a few—are spurring the need for more reliable, efficient power.
This drive to get greener all translates to great potential for companies developing fuel cells, improved battery technology and other discoveries that can generate, store and save energy.
While this technology is getting better, however, today’s energy storage systems and fuel cells have their limitations.
“There’s still a lot of research and development that needs to happen,” said Pradeep Haldar, associate vice president of Energy Programs at the University at Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.
