Glacier Bay raises $15M to address truck idling (San Francisco)

Glacier Bay Inc., an energy management controls company, raised $15 million in its third round of financing.

The Union City-based company will use the money to fund the growth of its ClimaCab product, a system that uses batteries to let trucks run air conditioning or heat while drivers are resting without leaving the engine running. The system is said to save trucks more than 3,000 gallons of fuel each year and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by about 40 tons per truck each year.

New York-based City Light Capital led the round, while the Westly Group and New Enterprise Associates, both based in Menlo Park, joined the round. Glacier Bay raised a $10 million round last year.
