PG&E will miss renewable power mandate (San Francisco)
PG&E Co. expects to deliver between 17 percent and 19 percent of its electricity from so-called renewable sources in 2010 — shy of the 20 percent required by state renewable mandates, its president told shareholders at their annual meeting today.
“We have contracts well in excess of 20 percent,” said PG&E President Chris Johns. “What we don’t know is what percentage of those companies will be able to complete (their projects) and get online.”
Johns said independent power producers have struggled to find financing to begin projects and have run into challenges obtaining proper permits.
