Researchers study weather’s effect on solar panels (Phoenix)
Three researchers at Arizona State University are looking to take advantage of years of data produced by a study of how solar panels hold up under severe weather conditions.
The project’s research team hopes to create new ways to incorporate data gleaned from solar panels to learn the effects of everything from rain to temperature on their performance.
A second part of the study will focus on developing more efficient panels and solar arrays.
“The idea is to analyze data not only from the array (of solar panels), but from weather conditions relating to the array to get it to work more efficiently,” said Andreas Spanias, co-director of the project.
