Washington state energy projects get $16.5M in stimulus funds
Thirteen energy related projects in Washington state will share $16.5 million in federal stimulus funds, the governor’s office said Tuesday.
Forty-seven energy projects applied for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. The largest grants include:
• $2 million to AltAir Fuels LLC of King and Skagit County, which will produce biofuels for airplanes from camelina oil at a Tesoro refinery in Anacortes. The project, the governor’s office said, will create 350 engineering and production jobs, 20 permanent jobs and 107 permanent and seasonal agricultural jobs.
• $1.5 million for Demand Energy Networks, of Spokane County, to accelerate commercialization of electricity storage devices, which will create or retain 93 jobs.
• $1 million for the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Puget Sound, of King County, which will “advance innovation in the wind and solar markets,” the governor’s office said, creating about 212 jobs during the three-year life of the contract.
