Complaints related to solar installations on the rise (Phoenix)
The solar industry has made its share of good news in the Phoenix area over the past year, but issues such as poor installation jobs, bad deals and financial irregularities have started clouding that sunshine.
State officials have noted an increase in the number of complaints against solar installers in particular, and are working to iron out the problems. Those in the industry also are working to curb service issues by fixing the problems at little or no cost because they don’t want solar to get a bad rap.
“I like to say it’s getting better, but it’s not,” said John Casey, CEO of Green Fuel Technologies LLC, a Phoenix-based solar installer.
Casey said his company recently reinstalled a solar system on the Sun City home of Luther Abrahamson. The work was done free after Abrahamson said another company couldn’t get the installation right after several attempts.
