Duke Energy plans 10 large solar projects (Charlotte)
Duke Energy Corp. is adding 10 solar sites across North Carolina, including five in the Charlotte region, as part of its $50 million commitment to generating electricity from the sun.
The Charlotte-based energy giant (NYSE:DUKE) will lease the sites under 20-year deals for solar systems that vary in size from 65 kilowatts to 2.1 megawatts.
The largest also will be the biggest rooftop site in the utility’s solar portfolio. The system is slated for the top of a building off old Dowd Road owned by developer Childress Klein Properties.
The company says installation is already under way at some of the sites.
