Massachusetts spends stimulus funds on energy assurance
The Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs office is directing federal stimulus funds in the amount of $485,500 to apply to Massachusetts’ energy assurance and emergency preparedness plans.
The funds, awarded through the Department of Energy Resources (DOER), under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will be used to address risk analysis of energy infrastructure, an improved Energy Assurance Plan and an evaluation of the plan’s effectiveness.
According to a news release this week from the Patrick-Murray Administration, the U.S. Department of Energy has paid for the energy preparedness project through a grant intended to “facilitate recovery from disruptions to energy supply” and “enhance reliability and quicker repair of outages.”
