Solar cell maker AQT raises $10M (Silicon Valley)
Solar cell developer Applied Quantum Technology said Wednesday it raised $10 million in venture funding.
The Santa Clara company focuses on copper-indium-gallium-diselenide thin-film cells.
AQT said the latest investment will be used to build out its first manufacturing line and "aggressively expand the company’s staff in anticipation of full-scale production over the next 12 months."
The company, which was founded in 2007, has raised almost $15 million to date — which is considerably less than others in the industry working with similar technology.
STPV Holdings is a lead investor.
