Starbucks says: Bring your cup, get free coffee April 15 (Seattle)
Starbucks plans to give away free brewed coffee on Thursday, April 15, to customers who bring in reusable tumblers, part of the Seattle java retailer’s efforts to curb the use of paper cups.
“While our cup has become an integral part of the coffeehouse experience over the years, it has also become an environmental concern,” Ben Packard, Starbucks vice president of Global Responsibility, said in a statement.
Packard said Starbucks has been working with cup manufacturers, municipalities and recyclers to make its cups more broadly recyclable, and the company also is encouraging customers to bring in reusable cups.
