Telkonet wins $1.2M in military work (Milwaukee)

Telkonet Inc., a Wauwatosa developer of energy management and "smart grid" networking technology, said Monday that it has been awarded a $1.2 million contract for work on a military base.

Under the contract, the company will install its Telkonet SmartEnergy system in more than 3,000 units of an East Coast military base's housing over the next nine months. The system is designed to improve energy efficiency by adjusting and maintaining each room's temperature based on occupancy, using a combination of occupancy sensors and packaged terminal air conditioner controllers.

"This is a strategic win in our efforts to demonstrate SmartEnergy efficiency savings in military housing," said Jeffrey Sobieski, chief operating officer of Telkonet (OTCBB: TKOI).
