BrightSource gets $150M in new funding (Silicon Valley)
Thermal solar startup BrightSource Energy Inc. said Thursday it has raised another $150 million in equity financing, bringing its total raised to more than $300 million.
The Oakland company said new investors include Alstom SA and the California State Teachers Retirement System. They joined existing investors VantagePoint Venture Partners, which has an office in San Bruno, Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) and Menlo Park-based Draper Fisher Jurvetson in the round.
Alstom committed to invest as much as $55 million in the deal, the French multinational's first big move into solar power.
