Hilton installs water recycling system (Houston)
Hilton Americas-Houston said Tuesday it expects to reduce its annual carbon footprint by 260 metric tons with the installation of an AquaRecycle water recycling system in its laundry facility.
Two Lavatec tunnel washers, which can wash up to 5,550 pounds of linens per hour, have been installed in the downtown convention center hotel’s 27,000-square-foot laundry facility.
The facility processes about 675,000 pounds of linen per month, and the hotel says the device would reduce water usage from 630,000 gallons per month to 157,500, a 75 percent savings.
Water returned to the washers through the system will maintain its 120 degree temperature through the process, saving on natural gas as well.
