Colorado company gets $2.2M for windows project
Colorado's EverSealed Windows Inc. is receiving $2,169,327 in federal stimulus funds to evaluate the use of vacuum insulating glass units in home windows, the U.S. Department of Energy announced Friday.
The funding is part of a $76 million allocation under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in support of energy-efficient building technology projects as well as training programs for commercial building equipment technicians, building operators, and energy auditors, officials said.
"These projects will help the United States lead the world in advancing energy-efficient technologies," Energy Secretary Steven Chu said in a statement. "Energy-efficient commercial buildings will help our country cut its carbon emissions and energy costs while the training programs will upgrade the skills of the current workforce and attract the next generation to careers in the emerging clean-energy economy."
The funding for Evergreen-based EverSealed Windows for a project that seeks to prove the feasibility of incorporating EverSealed's vacuum insulating glass units in R10-rated windows, used in "zero-energy" buildings.
