Salt River Project seeks solar proposals (Phoenix)

Salt River Project has issued a request for proposals for electricity generated from utility-scale, ground-based photovoltaic power plants, preferably within the greater Phoenix area.

The RFP seeks to add up to 50 megawatts of ground-mounted PV capacity by third-quarter 2012, and up to another 50 megawatts by third-quarter 2013. Individual projects with a capacity of between 5 and 20 megawatts are preferred.

SRP is looking meet a requirement set by its board to have 15 percent of its retail energy sales represented by sustainable resources by fiscal 2025. SRP’s current sustainable portfolio accounts about than 7 percent of retail energy sales.
