Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk has reportedly been having a hard times making ends meet, according to papers filed in a divorce settlement case.
The Venturebeat blog reports that Musk said in legal filings that he has been getting by "on personal loans from friends since October 2009 and spending $200,000 a month while making far less."
“About four months ago, I ran out of cash,” Venturebeat reports Musk wrote in a court filing dated Feb. 23.
A PDF of the filing is available from Venturebeat.
The PayPal co-founder's riches are what has kept the electric car maker on track as it has sold its Roadster and transitions to its Model S sedan that is expected to begin production in 2012.
