Solyndra swaps CEOs (San Francisco)

Solar panel maker Solyndra Inc. hired Brian Harrison as president and CEO, replacing Chris Gronet, who started the Fremont company.

Harrison was president and CEO of Numonyx B.V., a flash memory business.

Gronet will stay on as chairman of Solyndra’s board of directors. He’ll also keep some sort of executive job there.

Kelly Truman, another company founder, left Solyndra a month ago.

Steve Mitchell of Argonaut Private Equity, who sits on Solyndra’s board, praised Harrison for “aggressively driving down costs in a very competitive global industry” in his past job.

Last month, Solyndra pulled the plug on a planned $300 million initial public offering.
