Philadelphia energy institute makes research awards
A Philadelphia-based organization set up with state money to advance the development of promising energy technologies said Monday it has awarded $510,522 to fund eight research projects.
The Energy Commercialization Institute was established by Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Drexel University, the University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania State University.
Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania is one of four technology-based economic-development nonprofits funded by the state of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development through the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority, which also funded the creation of the Energy Commercialization Institute.
Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania is based in South Philadelphia at the Navy Yard, where Penn State has a Clean Energy Application Center. Drexel and Penn are based in the University City section of Philadelphia.
