TierPoint plans $8.2M green data center near Spokane

Data center services provider TierPoint said it plans to build a new $8.2 million data center at its Liberty Lake complex near Spokane.

TierPoint said the new facility will be operating by April of next year.

Funding for the data center, which TierPoint officials said will be environmentally friendly, was provided by $4.1 million in debt financing from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch and $3.1 million from Evergreen Business Capital and the Small Business Administration. TierPoint contributed the remaining funds.

Evergreen officials said TierPoint was eligible for SBA 504 loans because the project met new energy-reduction goals.

The system will use a geothermal cooling system and other efficiency measures.
