Puget Sound getting $13M in EPA grant funds
Federal officials said that an effort to protect Puget Sound will get $13 million in the latest round of Environmental Protection Agency science grants.
On Wednesday, officials including U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Bremerton, also unveiled a new research study center at the University of Washington Tacoma that will be called the Puget Sound Institute.
"To solve environmental problems, you need two key ingredients: the best science and tireless teamwork," said Dennis McLerran, regional administrator for the EPA in a press statement. "Funding for applied technical studies and related investigations is crucial to helping make Puget Sound healthy again."
