Tower Tech to supply Glacier Hills wind farm (Milwaukee)
Broadwind Energy Inc. said Monday that its Tower Tech Systems subsidiary in Manitowoc will supply wind towers for the 90-turbine Glacier Hills Wind Park in Columbia County.
Naperville, Ill.-based Broadwind Energy (NASDAQ: BWEN) did not disclose the value of the contract award from Vestas Wind Systems, which is developing the wind farm for Milwaukee-based We Energies. The order increases Broadwind's backlog of orders to approximately $245 million, which is up approximately 17 percent from Sept. 30, 2010.
The Glacier Hills Wind Park is located in the towns of Randolph and Scott in Columbia County. The project is expected to generate more than 400 million emission-free kilowatt hours annually — enough to power 45,000 homes.
