California 'green' buisness program expands
Businesses in Placer County now have the opportunity to certify “green” improvements and business practices in partnership with the Business Environmental Resource Center’s Sacramento Area Sustainable Business Program.
The city of Roseville, in conjunction with other local governments, chambers of commerce and private businesses, on Tuesday announced the launch of the Placer Green Business Program. A similar program already is offered in Sacramento County.
The voluntary program is free to participating businesses. Certified businesses, which take steps to, for example, improve energy and water efficiency and prevent air and water pollution, receive a certificate and a window placard to display at their place of business.
Certified businesses not only demonstrate their “commitment to operating sustainably,” but they can reduce their operating costs by lowering their utility bills, according to backers of the program.
