Arizona to oppose EPA on greenhouse gas regs

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne has pulled the state out of a lawsuit that supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in its quest to regulate greenhouse gases.

The state had joined the lawsuit under former Attorney General Terry Goddard, a Democrat.

The EPA proposed its rules regarding greenhouse gas emissions after climate legislation in Congress became bogged down amid protracted fights among Democrats and Republicans.

Horne, a Republican, said the plan was a "classic example of a federal agency trying to do the job of elected legislators, and at the same time place burdensome mandates on business."
