Danish wind company AH Industries opens U.S. headquarters in Kansas City
AH Industries Inc., a Danish wind power company, has opened a U.S. headquarters, logistics and distribution center in Lenexa.
The company will distribute wind turbine generators and tower components to its U.S. customers.
The facility at 15720 W. 108th St. initially will employ three people, but AH Industries plans to expand to five employees, said Mike Hohl, the company’s president of U.S operations.
“Kansas City is an ideal location because of the geography of the Midwest, where most of the U.S. wind energy is developed,” Hohl said.
The company manufactures and imports large heavy products, so having a central location to reduce shipping costs plays a key role in its strategy.
“In order to minimize logistics and transportation costs, you have to be as close to your customer base as possible,” Hohl said.
