The Clean Regatta's program offers a best practices list for green-leaning sailors.

The America’s Cup said it will work with a Newport, R.I. environmental nonprofit to spread the word about ocean protection.

The America’s Cup Event Authority said it has a deal to promote Sailors for the Sea and its Clean Regattas program.

Sailors for the Sea Clean Regattas certification provides independent, third-party verification that a yacht club, sailing program or regatta is environmentally responsible and is taking steps to protect the waters on which people sail.

“Sailors have the responsibility to ensure that our sailing grounds remain protected for future generations to enjoy,” said Neill Duffy, the director of sustainability for the America’s Cup Event Authority. “And as we are delivering the most prestigious sailing regatta in the world, we believe that we have an even greater responsibility.”
