DOE loan officer testifies to Congress on Solyndra
Jonathan Silver, head of the Department of Energy loan guarantee program that granted a $535 million guarantee to Solyndra before the company declared bankruptcy, testified in Congress Wednesday in a hearing broadcast live on CSPAN.

FOX News Network LLC reported that Obama Administration officials defended the guarantee.
Officials said the Fremont-based solar maker "fell victim to global economic trends," including competition in China and Europe, but that a federal investigation should continue.
Recently released emails by the House Energy and Commerce Committee suggest officials had concerns about the loan proposal well before it was finalized.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Solyndra executives canceled their original plans to appear at the hearing.
