Clean the World plans $12M Florida expansion
Eleven months after Clean the World relocated its headquarters to downtown Orlando, the nonprofit wants to reshape the city skyline with a $12 million, 10-story new building.
Clean the World, which recycles and redistributes soap and other hotel bath products to Third World countries, wants to move into plastics recycling, green construction materials, aquaculture and hydroponic food production at its site on Pittman Street near the intersection of Hughey and Livingston avenues.
The organization said it has $30 million to $45 million in financing in place to fund construction and equip its new 112,000-square-foot addition, but would not disclose the source of the funds. Concept drawings for the project have been prepared, but neither an architect, contractor nor subcontractors have been hired yet.
The nonprofit organization formed Clean the World Global LLC, a for-profit collaboration with Orlando-based Eco Convergence Group, to launch its next venture.
