Halliburton 'greening up' its HQ

Halliburton Co. is spending more than $2.7 million to grow and “green up” its 120-acre North Belt Campus, home to the Houston company’s U.S. headquarters.
Expected to open this fall, the 1 million-square-foot facility will bring together under one roof various business lines of technology, including chemistry, electronics and sensor physics.
About 2,200 employees work at the facility near George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The $2.7 million figure only includes construction and building costs; Halliburton hasn’t released the numbers on other investments, such as architecture and landscaping, associated with the renovation.
Tommy Jamial, Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) vice president for real estate services, said the company believes sustainability should be a key driver for its business.
“So when designing and planning the redevelopment of this campus, we wanted to create a dynamic corporate headquarters that is recognized by our employees and the communities as a great place to work,” he said.
