Ecotality, a San Francisco-based maker of electric vehicle charging equipment and networks, has a new CEO.

Ravi Brar, Ecotality’s former chief financial officer, is replacing Jonathan Read.

Brar’s resume is diverse. Prior to joining Ecotality in 2010, he was executive vice president and CFO of an outsourcing firm in Russia and China; was CFO and chief operating officer at Pac-West Telecom, and worked for Xerox in business development, finance and operations roles for nearly a decade.

Ecotality board member Andrew Tang said Brar was being groomed for the chief executive position since he was hired.

Read, who founded Ecotality in 2005 is leaving the company.

Susie Hermann has been named acting CFO.

Ecotality is tasked with rolling out electric vehicle charging stations in Oregon and around the country as part of the EV Project.
