Solarzentrum adding manufacturing jobs in Ohio
A German manufacturer of solar panels will invest $7 million to expand its PV-Therm Module production facility in Osgood, Ind., creating about 140 new jobs by 2016 for the Ripley County town about 50 miles west of Cincinnati.
Solarzentrum North America said the expansion is needed because of growing demand for its PV-Therm product, which uses sunlight to heat water and generate electricity with the same unit. The product is sold for residential and business applications and is used in heating systems for pools and spas.
“Osgood was our best choice,” Reinhard Peter, Solarzentrum CEO, said in a news release. “Starting a manufacturing facility closer to them, customers can now expect shorter lead times and an innovative US-Made / German-engineered solar product.”
Solarzentrum started work on the hybrid solar panel in 2003 and completed development in 2008.
