Boston Scientific unveils a big rooftop solar array in Squantum
By Galen Moore, Boston Business Journal
Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) cut the ribbon Wednesday on 3,900 solar panels installed on the rooftop of its distribution center in Squantum, a neighborhood of Quincy, Mass.
The solar installation will generate 1.7 million kilowatt hours per year, a BSX executive said, according to news reports. That's about 25 percent of the distribution facility's needs, or enough to power 145 homes for a year.
The installation, announced last June, was handled by Virginia-based HelioSage Energy. Con Edison Solutions, a subsidiary of Con Edison, will own and operate the system, and Boston Scientific will receive electricity at a discount, the Ledger reported.
