Vestas' plans will bolster, at the least, its Colorado operations.

Vestas Wind Systems says it is is planning to hire "at least" 100 more people — including 75 experienced welders — at its wind-turbine tower manufacturing plant.

Vestas already added 100 people at the Pueblo plant during the first quarter, spokeswoman Susan Innis said Tuesday.

The Danish wind turbine company (VWS) will hold a job fair Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Fortino Ballroom at the Pueblo Community College.

Pueblo economic development officials were thrilled at the news.

“The wind industry suffered some setbacks last year and Vestas has been able to amend their business model to react to that,” said Richard Werner, vice president of the Pueblo Economic Development Commission, in an interview. “We’re ecstatic. This will put them back at full employment capacity.”
